Health: Living On ‘Junk Food’ May Higher The Risk Of Colorectal Cancer!

“Junk food” is plentiful, cheap, tasty (lots of fat, seasoning), so easy to get, they are made to entice anybody to buy them, eat them, many can’t confront the temptation!

Junk foods contain elements that trigger our part of the brain(the same one that is triggered for a drug addict). The same reason why so many people abuse alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes. Junk food is addicting due to the many known and unknown preservatives, chemicals, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and many other things that have been proven time and again to be addictive.

The government states that smoking is the leading cause of preventable death and illness among Indiana. On can disagree. It’s to believe that obesity is the leading cause of preventable death and illness. There is just simply too much money to be made through the food industry and pharmaceutical industry to change this growing epidemic though.

Consuming a poor diet may have more impact on your health than you thought, as a recent study has claimed that a poor diet can lead to a number of health issues, one of them being cancer.

More than 80,000 cancer cases in some parts of the world were linked to poor diet, or around 5 percent, according to a study published in the journal ‘JNCI Cancer Spectrum’.

The study, conducted by the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts, analysed cancer diagnoses among adults from 2015 along with data from two national surveys on Americans’ diets to determine how many cases were linked to poor diets, especially low in vegetables, fruits, whole grains and high in processed sugar, sugary beverages and red meats.

The judgments are comparable to the number of cancer cases linked to alcohol consumption, which amount to between 4 and 6 percent. Disproportionate body weight is linked to 7 percent to 8 percent of cases and lack of physical activity is compared with 2 percent to 3 percent.

“Our findings underscore the opportunity to reduce cancer burden and disparities in the United States by improving food intake,” said study author Fang Zhang and cancer and nutrition researcher.

Of all types of cancers, colorectal cancer had the highest link to poor diet. Roughly 38 percent, or 52,000 cases, of colorectal cancer diagnosed in 2015 were related to consumption of poor. That compared to around 14,400 cancer cases of the mouth, pharynx, and larynx, 3,165 cases of uterine cancer, and 3,060 cases of post-menopausal breast cancer.

People know junk food is harmful but are unable to stop because they are addicted, just the smokers know smoking is injurious to health. Their bodies need for calories increase because of the empty calories they invest from junk food. The more empty calories you take in the more your brain triggers cravings to eat more calories hoping that you will eventually get some vitamins and minerals in there somewhere.
